Wearable camera maker GoPro on Thursday reported larger-than-expected revenue and profit in the third quarter, sending its shares higher in aftermarket trading.

GoPro reported net income of $14.6 million, or 10 cents per share, compared with a loss of $1.1 million, or 1 cent a share, a year ago. The San Mateo, California, company said it earned 12 cents per share if one-time items are excluded. Its revenue climbed 46 percent to $280 million.

FactSet says analysts expected a profit of 8 cents per share and $265.6 million in revenue on average.

GoPro Inc. makes light and waterproof cameras that are worn by extreme sports fans like skydivers, surfers, and others. Wearers film themselves as they create first-person videos. The company went public in June with an IPO that priced at $24 per share, and the stock has nearly tripled in value since then.

The stock rose 36 cents to $68.25 Thursday and added $4.75, or 7 percent, to $73 in extended trading. (Quelle http://www.cnbc.com/id/102138739)
